Ross Care Awarded Contract for Kent and Medway NHS Wheelchair Service

Ross Care is thrilled to announce that it has again been awarded the contract to serve as the Provider of the Kent and Medway NHS Wheelchair Service. This contract will commence on June 1, 2024, and will run for a minimum of five years.

The service will continue to operate from Ross Care’s existing locations in Ashford and Gillingham, ensuring uninterrupted service for current users and referrers. Ross Care is excited to build on the positive momentum of the service, further enhancing its development for the benefit of residents across Kent and Medway.

Mike Teaney, Service Manager at Ross Care, remarked, “It is a tremendous privilege for our team to provide this service. In recent months, we have collaborated with NHS Kent and Medway to develop strategies aimed at strengthening and increasing the effectiveness of the wheelchair service. We are also launching several new initiatives, including a new website to improve information accessibility and facilitate feedback. Additionally, we are excited to introduce a new partnership with Whizz-Kidz, which will enhance our specialist support for children’s services.”

Lee Martin, Chief Delivery Officer at NHS Kent and Medway, said: “We are pleased to announce that Ross Care will remain as the provider of the Kent and Medway Wheelchair Service. Ross Care will continue to develop a  high-quality, responsive service by working with, and listening to, the people who use it.”

Ross Care is committed to increasing community feedback and engagement to shape the service. Strengthening the Service User Engagement Group is a key part of this initiative, and we welcome new members, particularly young people. Community Liaison Engagement Officer Clive Bassant will continue to lead the Service User Engagement Program. Individuals interested in participating in the group can express their interest or provide feedback by emailing kentandmedwaywcs@rosscare.co.uk.

Additionally, Ross Care will soon be announcing two open days, providing an opportunity for healthcare professionals and Service Users to learn more about the Wheelchair Service, discuss development plans, and engage with the local team.

Ross Care brings over 60 years of experience in delivering high-quality wheelchair services and approved repairs across the UK. They currently manage 40 long-term contracts in England and Wales, covering 45% of the population, and serve around 400,000 wheelchair users.
