Supporting our Communities

We are pleased to share the good news that we have proudly donated a wheelchair to Wetwheels Hamble CIC to help with transferring passengers on and off the Wetwheels boat, who may struggle with their mobility and accessing the boat.

Emily, the Community Health Engagement Officer for Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Wheelchair service, joined the Wetwheels team in April on a taster experience trip from Mercury Yacht harbour in Satchell Lane Hamble, out into the Solent with the team.

During the trip, she spoke with Ted, a member of the Wetwheels team explained to her that the team were looking for a wheelchair to help transport passengers of the boating trip on and off the boat, who may find it difficult to access the boat. “The surface is uneven, and can be difficult for some people to manage,” said Ted.

Emily liaised with the management team at Ross Care and together they arranged for a wheelchair donation to support such a good cause and supports the community, helps aid the wellbeing of wheelchair users, their relatives, carers and friends across the whole of Hampshire. The donated wheelchair was handed over to the Wetwheels team on Wednesday 1st July.
