Strengthening Community Engagement and Service User Voice Across Ross Care Services

Over the past year, Ross Care has continued to build strong relationships with Service Users, carers, healthcare professionals and local organisations through a wide range of engagement activities across our Wheelchair Services.

By attending wellbeing fairs, SEND events, community roadshows, support groups and local networking forums, our teams have helped raise awareness of available support. These activities have also created valuable opportunities to listen and respond to feedback from wheelchair users, carers and families.

Across Kent, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and East Sussex, colleagues have attended events including Adult Support and Wellbeing Fairs, SEND Family Fun Days, Memory Cafés and the Eat Well Spend Less Wellbeing Roadshow. These events have supported direct conversations with service users and carers, helping people better understand how to access wheelchair services, equipment and wider community support.

Ross Care has also continued to expand and relaunch Service User Engagement Forums across several regions, providing regular opportunities for wheelchair users, relatives, carers and professionals to share feedback, ask questions and contribute to service development.

Alongside this, teams have strengthened links with local stakeholder groups, charities and community organisations, including Wetwheels, Sailability, Southampton Parent Carer Forum, Defiant Sports and the Kent Cricket Foundation. These partnerships help connect service users with accessible sport, recreation and social inclusion opportunities that support independence, wellbeing and community participation.

This continued programme of engagement reflects Ross Care’s commitment to community partnership working and person-centred service delivery, ensuring service users feel heard, supported and actively involved in shaping the services they receive.
