Choosing Your Manual Wheelchair

Choosing Your Manual Wheelchair

Manual wheelchairs are great for you to remain independent, giving you the ability to visit the shops, family and friends, whenever you wish. Wheelchairs come in a range of styles and configurations, from self-propelled to electric or hi-active.

Here, we explain the difference;

  • Modular wheelchairs are for a user who has a constantly changing mobility condition. This chair can be modified in width, depth, seat base tilt, and wheel positioning, that aids positioning and posture. Modular wheelchairs are available in either Transit or Self-Propelling, depending on the user’s abilities.

The base of these chairs can be used in conjunction with specifically moulded seats, for maximum comfort.

  • Hi-Active wheelchairs are far more static usage, often specifically personalised and bespoke.Designed to be sat in for long periods of time, they are manufactured in carbon fibre and titanium to make them light weight and compact. This type of chair easily fits into vehicle storage space.
