Meet Julie Ryan, Ross Care Occupational Therapist in Gillingham
“My name is Julie and I joined the Wheelchair Service in Gillingham in November 2025.
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2002 in London. I began the first 4 years of my career as an OT in Northern Ireland where I was born and brought up and worked in The Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Following this I moved to Kent and worked in The Medway Maritime Hospital for 15 years on the Surgical Wards primarily working with amputees which is where much of my experience in wheelchairs was developed.
I had a career break for 6 years starting in 2019 to spend more time with my 2 young children and supported their transition from primary to secondary school.
It was always important to me to return to my career as an Occupational Therapist. I had worked hard to become an OT and it would have been a shame for me not to return. I am ready to learn and develop and look forward to building relationships with clients and making a difference in their lives. I look forward to continuing my career with Rosscare who place a value on showing care and respect for colleagues and service users within the team, making a difference and fostering a learning environment.”
